RADIOLOGY

Radiology is a specialty that deals with imaging different parts of the body to diagnose or treat diseases. The most common imaging techniques used are X-ray, MRI, ultrasound, CT scan and PET scan. After a patient undergoes imaging tests, radiologists will give reports of their interpretations to the referring clinical doctors. Ultrasound, also called sonography, is a non-invasive imaging modality that uses sound waves to visualize different parts of the body. The test is performed by placing a probe on top of the skin to visualize the internal structures. It is most commonly used to examine the abdomen, pelvis, kidney and bladder. Doppler ultrasound is a functional imaging that helps to image blood vessels and blood flow.
