Dr. Prabash P R
Dr. P.R. Prabash is a Senior Consultant in Neurology, Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Vanagaram, Chennai.
He completed his primary medical degree (MBBS) and specialization in General Medicine (MD) from Raja Muthiah Medical college, Chidambaram. He then obtained DM Neurology from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur, Chennai. He has undergone Neurology training under the illustrious teachers, Padmasri awardee, Prof C. U. Velmurugendran, Prof U. Meenakshisundaram and Prof V. Shankar. He then joined as Faculty (Assistant professor) in the same department, to pursue his passion for teaching, in 2012 and was mentored by two doyens of Neurology in India.
In an attempt to extend Neurology services and affordable neurology consultations to the needy people in tier 4/5 towns, grass root and remote areas he started traveling for medical camps. He also innovated by taking mobile electrophysiology units to remote places since it was difficult for people to travel back to Chennai for accessing the facilities and for quick therapeutic decision making in patients.
He is actively involved in knowledge dissemination by conducting CMEs. He has taken part in IMA meetings, conducted at Tiruvannamalai, Gudiyatham, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthrai, Poonamalle, Porur, Ambattur-Avadi, Perambur, Port Trust hospital, KM nursing home. He conducts awareness talks and campaigns on Stroke, Vertigo, Movement disorders in various forums.
He has authored a few topics in textbooks and published scientific papers in national and international journals.
He is the Co-founder of Chennai Stroke group, along with two other neurologists from Chennai.
He has conceptualized, designed and launched a stroke hotline app – Strokeline in Apollo Hospitals, Vanagaram in November 2017. He has invented, helped design and launched a stroke hotline – ApolloNeighbourhoodConnect in 2019.
In 2019, Dr Prabash and Dr Revathy (ENT) launched the first Vertigo and Balance disorder clinic – THULA in porur.
He rode on his bike across Tamilnadu and Pondicherry for three days, speaking at over 100 touch points and a number of CMEs to create awareness on Stroke in the year 2020.
In 2022 he launched one of a kind integrated Vertigo and Balance Clinic, followed by a massive awareness cyclothon in the city of Chennai.
